We've been back in California for about 2 weeks now, having fully enjoyed our 6 week European/East Coast vacation. Even with that much time, we still didn't get to see a lot of our friends and family! But, we're most thankful for those we were able to spend time with and for the wonderful memories made during those visits.
One really important and super fun event that took place in July was actually a lifetime milestone... Maddie and I accompanied my Goddaughter, Katie on her wedding dress shopping outing!! I won't burden everyone with the usual "I can't believe my little Katie is getting married - it was only yesterday that she was in diapers.." (Because it was JUST yesterday that she was in diapers and I am thrilled that she has found a wonderful man to share her life with!!!) I will, however, give a preview of what a stunning bride she will be by posting this photo of one of the 'non-contender' dresses she tried on...
Maddie helps Katie with a Vera Wang dress that was stunning, but not 'right' for her.
Our niece, Elizabeth - sister of the bride and Maddie wait to see the next dress...
Never let it be said that our Katie is indecisive... she only tried on a few dresses and purchased the first one she tried on! (She had a photo of the dress in hand when we went to the Salon.) It was such a lovely day and I'm just thrilled that I was on hand to share such a special occasion with the first three "little loves" of my life!
We spent a majority of our time on the East Coast at my parent's house on the Delaware Shore. On July 25th Josie and I headed up to Cape Cod to spend time with our dear friends Nick & Mary. Maddie had returned to California on the 19th to attend "ComicCon" in San Diego. (The tickets for the 'sold out' event were a gift from Uncle Rich, James' brother!)

Big news for the girls was that they got to see Bradley Cooper and Jeff Bridges as they swept through the convention floor with their handlers. I told Maddie she should have given a shout-out to Bradley Cooper - a fellow Philadelphian! I'm sure he would have stopped in his tracks! ;-)
While Maddie was here in CA, Josie and I were being tortured up in MA with just about perfect beach weather. Josie made new friends - Caroline and Joseph - who were from Virginia... they were visiting their grandparents who just happen to live next door to Nick & Mary. The kids shared a lot of beach fun - and the family very kindly invited Josie to join them on a Pirate Cruise out of Plymouth. They walked the plank, captured pirates and brought home the booty!! What a great day for our Josie!

Beach companions Mary and Anna
Nick - Hunting and Gathering...
The yummy result of Nick's efforts!
We finished up our visit in Marshfield with a wonderful beach bonfire:
Josie enjoying s'mores with the kids: later there was stargazing!
I'm not talented enough to capture a decent photo of the bonfire!
So, now we're back to the reality of shopping for school supplies and bracing ourselves for the madness that will accompany the college application season... Wish us luck - a high school Senior and a first-grader! Never a dull moment!
I'm Michele - East Coast born & bred. Married to a native Californian, Mom to two East Coast daughters. When a new job opportunity came up, I told my darling husband, - "You'll have to drag me to California, Kicking and Screaming". And so began our newest adventure...
